  Why is TAIYO SHEET superior to traditional electrical cable or hot water type heating?

  A

  The biggest feature of TAIYO SHEET is that we make a 9mm wide cut in the asphalt and vertically insert a 4mm wide sheet. Thus, we do not need to remove or break up existing asphalt.

  Will the cut in the road break down quicker than other areas from car tire wear?

  A

  We fill the cut with asphalt when using asphalt and concrete when using concrete, so it will degrade the same from wear as the surrounding road surface.

  If I turn on power when snow starts falling, how long will it take until deicing?

  A

  Normally, deicing can take place 10 minutes after snowfall. With road heating, we recommend looking at weather forecasts and turning on power before snowfall to warm road surfaces. Asphalt surfaces especially are about 10°C cooler than ambient air but if preheated the road can even handle blizzards.

  How long does it take to lay the sheet?

  A

  It takes on average one hour to lay 50m.

  How often is maintenance needed?

  A

  The product is basically maintenance free for 10 years. We recommend repairing it when you plan to repair the asphalt.

  What is the range which TAIYO SHEET can deice?

  A

  TAIYO SHEET can deice in a 60cm radius around where it has been laid.

  Will water (rainwater) get into the electrical systems?

  A

  The sheet itself is coated with a waterproof material that water cannot get in.

Plastic greenhouses

  TAIYO SHEET can warm roots when embedded in soil, but what about the leaves sticking out from the soil? Will they be OK if they are not warmed?

  A

  Basically, the most important part of a plant is its roots, so there will be no problems as long as the leaves do not freeze. However, in extremely cold regions we recommend placing TAIYO SHEET in the greenhouse itself.

  Plants naturally need to be watered. Will that water get into the TAIYO SHEET?

  A

  The sheet itself is coated with a waterproof material that water cannot get in. There is also an outlet on the sheet, so there is no need to worry about water pooling on the sheet.
